I am a Chartered engineer working in programme, portfolio and project management. Since 27 March 2011 I was employed by a UAE company in a staff role as a management consultant capacity. During this period I have paid neither tax or NI as I was waiting to regularise our (my wife and I) residency position and domestic arrangements in the UAE. Prior to that I transitioned from the UK parent company in which I had been working since 2007. In August (4th) this year I was made redundant and returned to the UK for 2 months. In that time both my wife and I have been claiming job-seekers allowance. I have now taken a new position in a temporary contract role with an overseas (Gulf) company as a management consultant capacity for 9 months. This will mean that I will have spent 88 days this year in the UK on 13 October 2011when I leave for KSA.
