I am 57 year old who in May 2011 was made redundant on which I paid tax. Since then I have spent 7 months unemployed receiving Job Seekers Allowance which I understand is taxable, I have also worked for 5 weeks as a contractor under an umbrella company, to date no tax has been paid for this work, and I am due to start another contract shortly. Recently I have also taken my company pension in a lump sum with a monthly payment in connection with this pension I have received a P161 form from HM Revenue and Customs. As working as PAYE most of my life I do not understand how to proceed with the tax that may be payable and the completing of the P161 regarding the pension.
