Hello, I require some assistance regarding director’s national insurance.

I am a contract airline pilot and have set up a Ltd company in the Republic of Ireland as a vehicle to receive my remuneration and pay tax/social insurance (This is a condition of my current contract with my contracting agency Brookfield).

As of this month with the change in EU legislation last year, I am now liable for UK National Insurance instead of Irish social insurance, as I am a permanent resident of the UK. The accountants that I currently use in Ireland are unable to calculate and process UK National Insurance and now I require some expertise on the subject here in the UK.

I have contacted the UK HMRC and they state that I am only liable for UK National Insurance and that I should register my company for PAYE, however they have also informed me that I am not only liable to pay employees NI, but also employers NI on top.
