Question from a business in Hampshire

I am starting a business that will provide a service to school parents. The service will be marketed by parent teachers associations and I will pay them a commission. My query is about VAT? I plan to give parents the option to pay me directly online or send a cheque to PTA association. I will then provide a statement to PTA once a term and either pay or ask for payment depending on whether most people paid online or by cheque.

I obviously won't be liable for VAT initially but in this scenario what are the VAT implications. I realise VAT may not be an issue if all payments made directly to PTA and I invoice them, but most PTAs dont offer this facility and I would rather have more control. WDYT? Kind regards Lorraine
